About this course

Students completing this course will develop the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to deliver an advanced first aid response in a variety of emergency situations. Training is aligned with the latest guidelines published by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other recognised Australian peak clinical bodies.

This course is suitable for anyone who may be required to provide advanced first aid in the workplace, community or other environments where a prompt and effective emergency response is essential.

Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399

  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID014 – Provide advanced First Aid

Course delivery 

This course is offered as a face-to-face course or blended model. Pre-course learning is required.

Course duration

  • Standard: Up to 2 hours of pre-course learning + 6 hours completed face-to-face.
  • Fully Face-to-Face: Minimum 8 hours in total

Pre-requisites 

Learners will require English Language, Literacy, numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course.

Assessment requirements 

Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including first aid and advanced resuscitation techniques. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.

Course renewal requirements

The statement of attainment is valid for 3 years*. *Please note that the CPR component of the training is valid for 12 months and should be updated annually.
